Discipline
When a student becomes disruptive or exhibits an inability to follow school rules, the parents will be notified through the daily homework assignment book. If unacceptable behavior continues, the student will be referred to the Elementary Principal and/or school chaplain for counseling, correction, and/or restitution. Bad behavior (being unkind to others, disobedience, rudeness, uncooperative, fighting, unacceptable language, etc.) will result in detentions, writing standards, or possibly suspension.
It is the goal of the school to conduct the campus and its activities in an orderly and efficient manner. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain good discipline. Discipline is training which goes beyond the present and has a tremendous impact throughout a child’s entire lifetime. Its effectiveness is dependent upon cooperation between home and school. We are here to cooperate with you in the proper training of your child. We do not expect parents to solve their child’s conduct problems (particularly school-related ones) alone; conversely, we ask that you extend to us the same grace and consideration, and not expect the school alone to solve any discipline problems your child may encounter.
We sincerely appreciate parents who show the wisdom to postpone drawing conclusions until the “full picture” of the discipline situation is presented. Jumping to premature conclusions and making inaccurate accusations usually results in unnecessary hurt to everyone involved.
All students in our school are expected to conform consistently to our school standards. Any student disregarding these standards or causing problems in the classroom will be referred to the principal for counseling and correction. When a student is unable or unwilling to effectively respond to the correction required during discipline, he/she may be suspended or expelled without warning.
