Joyce Raley

2nd Grade Teacher

I was born in Michigan but grew up near Sacramento, California. My husband Gene and I were married during our senior year at Azusa Pacific University and will celebrate our 40th aniversary in December. We have 5 children, 4 of whom are married. Our youngest daughter is a freshman at Vanquard University this year. We have 6 grandchildren, two of which attend CSOD.

I always wanted to be a teacher even when I was a child. Reading and books were one of my highest forms of entertainment as I was growing up. I taught Sunday School and VBS as a teenager. Teaching is being a good communicator. Explaining things in a simple way that makes it easy for others to understand is an
exciting thing to me. It is an added plus to be able to teach Bible lessons at our school.

This is my 15th year to teach 2nd grade at CSOD. I look forward to it every day. Two of my children attended our school and graduated with honors. I find CSOD to be one of the best organized school I have seen. This is true inside and outside the classroom. It is true of the administration, the maintenance staff, the preschool, the sports program and so on.
The school met the needs of my children academically, spiritually, socially, and physically.
CSOD is not only a good place to attend school but it is also a good place to work.
