When asked about his personal philosophy or mission statement he stated, “I believe that all students should be provided an environment in which they have the opportunity to achieve. Subject matter should be presented in a competent and interesting manner. With that said, I also feel that education goes far beyond material presented in the classroom. Education involves establishing relationships with your students; supporting and encouraging them to pursue goals beyond traditional expectations. As a teacher, I feel I have a responsibility to help students maximize their potential in the four areas outlined in the CSOD mission statement – academically, spiritually, physically and socially.” He believes that the Bible should be the foundation of everything we teach. “It is the standard of truth that we need to impart on our students.”
Mr. Roethler was living in northeast Ohio in 2000 when he was given the opportunity to return to CSOD. After a considerable amount of prayer, Mr. and Mrs. Roethler both felt the Lord was instructing them to accept the job and relocate to the desert. When asked what he like most about CSOD he answered, “As a parent of CSOD students, I value the academic standards of the school and am delighted that my children are being given a Biblically based education. As a teacher, I love the intimacy of the staff and the genuine feelings of care we have for one another. I truly look upon my CSOD colleagues as a part of my extended family. I love being a member of the CSOD faculty and working with the students and their families.”

Favorite Bible Verse
“But someone will say, ‘How are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?’ You fool! That which you sow does not come to life unless it dies; and that which you sow, you do not sow the body of which it is to be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or something else. But God gives it a body just as He wished, and to each of the seeds a body of its own.” Corinthians15:35-38
